Our History
Successful Practices Network (SPN) is an educational not-for-profit that cares for the present and enables the future by offering robust, personalized professional learning and coaching to schools and districts around the country.
-
2003
SPN was founded by Dr. Bill Daggett and led by Ray McNulty thanks to an initial five-year grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Since our inception, SPN has won multiple additional grants that have allowed us to conduct proprietary research and create exclusive instructional and assessment tools that we share with our network. We’ve also had the rewarding opportunity to work one-on-one with educators at the state, district, and school levels to craft tailored plans that improve instruction and outcomes for all students.
-
2007
SPN developed the WE Suite of Surveys to measure stakeholder perceptions of instructional rigor, learning relevance, student engagement, leadership effectiveness, and school culture. These surveys have evolved to include others evaluating career readiness, academic tenacity, human capital development, and additional components critical for supporting all students.
-
2018
SPN merged with the National Dropout Prevention Center (NDPC). This merger brought together two leading organizations that share a critical vision: to improve future outcomes for all students. As a result of the merger, SPN is better empowered to care for the present and enable the future for all students.
